CV
James Hussein Nizam (b. 1977) is a Canadian artist of Lebanese and British descent. His practice approaches photography as an expanded medium, engaging conceptual and interdisciplinary strategies that move beyond traditional forms of photographic representation. Central to his work is the development of technically inventive, process-driven methods that challenge conventional image-making.
Between field-based projects and site-specific interventions, Nizam’s work often exists at the threshold of the real and the illusory, transforming the apparatus of photography into speculative propositions. By reconfiguring how images are produced, he invites viewers to consider how light, space, and time structure our understanding of the world at the intersection of the visible and the physical.
